Chris Mason - Academy Manager Blog May & June

Chris Mason's May & June blog Our Academy Manager's outlook on the past two months training and games.

Football

The Months of May and June has resulted in the Academy playing a number of fixtures against a range of teams, most noticeable a match vs Stockport County U18s. The squad has worked hard in all training sessions and the teams performance levels have increased in the past few weeks. It was great to see Ryan McCormick who has been a regular in the MIFA team in the last few matches score two goals in three games, one being a fantastic free-kick against City Skills College.

With pre-season commencing for all the professional and semi - professional clubs in the coming weeks, all of the players have been putting in extra training to prepare for trials and games.

Education

Special Events

As the European Championships are well under way, the team took time out to watch the recent England vs  Wales match and conduct a full match report on a team of their choice. The players found this exercise to be really beneficial, Lewis Trusty said "I really enjoyed this task as it allowed me to look at the game differently. I watched individuals closely to see their technical abilities".

Player of the Month

Well done to Mark Kis Varga on being awarded the player of the month award, he recently had a bad injury and broke his wrist. Since coming back into training he has been really enthusiastic and keen to build his fitness up, his performances in training and games has been terrific.
