An exciting match at Manchester International Football Academy saw professional outfit Fleetwood Town come out on top in as 5-3 victory over the MIFA squad.
This lively game started with great shot on goal from MIFA player Jetmir Bushaj, setting the tone for the rest of the game, throughout which, the MIFA players showed great resiliance against the Fleetwood side who have been training together since July. The MIFA players proved their fitness and skill during the match with Bushaj's goal, the first of many tests for Fleetwood's guest goal keeper David Ramsaran.
Nwame Perez showed a great work rate thoughout the game and good link up play with Ola Sunmolah in the first half. He looked threatening going forward with Leicester City Scholar Nathan Hicks who instigated many MIFA attacks, both competing well.
Fleetwood's no.20, Jordan Lazenby made light work of Chris Masons blunder and went onto score from 25 yards. The side were quick to double their score with another goal from Kurt Willoughby.
For MIFA, Perez and Sunmolah were joined up front by Eliott Rokka, who put a few teasing crosses into the Fleetwood box yet their defence remained strong and the MIFA players were unable to covert these chances into goals. The 1st goal for the MIFA side came from Chris Mason's free kick.
In defence Joel Gyasi played effectivly in his preferred position as right back, cutting out the danger from Fleetwood's attack. Despite MIFA's best efforts Fleetwood's Jake Parker got 2 goals past Goal Keeper Adam mansour, taking the score sheet to 4-1 at the end of the first half.
As the second half got underway Gyasi moved to play Centre Midfield. He was effective in this position, his powerful runs creating space for his team mates proving his strength and versitility on the pitch.
Sunmolah, started the second half on true form scoring an immediate goal for the MIFA side taking the score to 4-2. He looked lively and dangerous as he had throughout the game yet his efforts lead to a pulled hamstring which meant he had to finish the game.
Emmanuel Cobbina was lively and effective throughout the game creating numerous opportunities for his team mates, in particular the chance for Ruaridh Iacovou to score in the second half. Iacovou had many chances to score with this being the closest, it would have taken the score sheet to level had it not been for the blinding save from David Ramsaran.
Ramsaran, originally from the Cayman Islands was guest goalkeeper for the Fleetwood side, yet currently training with the MIFA squad. He managed to pull off a string of fine saves throughout the game with this being his highlight. Rokka continued his good performance into the second half and had a fantastic run against 3 Fleetwood players to win a penalty for the MIFA side. Chris Mason took the penalty, scoring the last goal of the game.
Despite the unfavourable score sheet the MIFA defence did their best to prevent further Fleetwood attacks on goal. Alex Lowe made a few last ditch saving tackles which prevented any further goal scoring opportunities. He looked comfortable on the ball, remaining composed throughout the game supporting MIFA Goalkeeper Adam Mansour.
Mansour who was not feeling 100% still managed to show dominance when collecting the ball from crosses and made an excellent near post save from the Fleetwood winger, yet Fleetwood's Tom Peterson scored a final goal, sealing his side's victory at 5-2.
