A very strong second half performance saw the MIFA squad win this very end to end encounter. MIFA's clinical finishing was certainly the difference in the second half scoring five goals and eventually 6-1 winners.
The first half began with both teams looking to play the ball on the ground, and this created lots of time and space for both teams when in possession. The first goal came when Curzon hit MIFA on the break at pace and a deflected shot fell kindly to the centre midfielder who smashed the ball in from eight yards out, 1-0 Curzon Ashton.
That early setback seemed to rejuvenate the MIFA team and soon after the restart they were back on level terms after Stanley Tagbo opened his MIFA scoring account by curling the ball into the far corner from six yards out. The first half finished with MIFA very strong and looking to create and score more goals.
An early goal in the second half from Okello put MIFA in the driving seat, a cross from Tagbo was met full on with his head and powered into the goal. It was soon 3-1 when Mason drove forward from defence and met a Gidley pass with a left footed volley. MIFA looked like they'd score every time they went forward. Mason grabbed a second when he raced on to a flick on from Reyes and smashed the ball in off the post.
The scoring was complete when Buckley scored the goal on the game an inch perfect drive from the corner of the 18 yard box rattled in of the post to finish the game off. Well done to both teams.
